Dataversity works by facilitating knowledge-sharing among biodata
managers. This occurs in online, telephone and face to face discussions
in groups of different sizes. If you could distill the essence from all
those conversations, you would have a complete guide to biodata
management in New Zealand local government. To facilitate exactly that,
I have started a Biodata System Guide on the Dataversity website.
http://dataversity.org.nz/guide/
The purpose of new guide is to harvest what is known in the Dataversity
community to help biodata managers to cost-effectively improve their
practices and systems. The guide contains the beginnings of a list
organisations involved with biodata management, a defined set of
requirements for biodata systems, a list of practices for biodata
management, and descriptions of many biodata systems.
All members of the Dataversity Public Discussion group can edit the
Biodata System Guide. Please do so. Charlotte and I have created the
structure for the Guide, and started to add some content to it. We will
continue to expand the guide, but to be sustainable, it will require
input from the Dataversity community.
Please take some time to review an area of the Guide that is of interest
to you, and either let us know what you think by replying to this post,
or simply edit the guide directly. If you are a member of this group,
and logged in to the site, you will see, on every page, a "Change" link
that enables you to change the page. You can't add pages to the guide
just yet, so if you'd like to add one, let Charlotte or me know and
we'll add it for you.
You may notice that the old Resources section is no longer visible on
the website. The former National Databases page has been folded in to
the new Systems page,
http://dataversity.org.nz/guide/systems/
in which each system now

has
http://dataversity.org.nz/guide/systems/caddis/
its

own
http://dataversity.org.nz/guide/systems/fmbcd/
editable
http://dataversity.org.nz/guide/systems/nvs/
page.

The Related Groups will rise again as Organisations.

The Showcase has become Case Studies

and the Want Ads are informing the Requirements.

There is a new section about Dataversity itself.
