Checklists
Level Two: Internally developed standard
- Metadata was determined internally.
- Documentation of the metadata scheme is readily discoverable.
Level Three: Authoritative Standard Imported Once
- Metadata sourced from authoritative source such as Landcare Research.
- Documentation of metadata source and date it was obtained is readily discoverable.
Level Four: Authoritative Standard Imported Periodically
- Metadata is updated on a schedule.
- Documentation of metadata update history is readily discoverable.
Level Five: Metadata Automatically Synchronised with Authoritative Standard
- Metadata is automatically sychnronised.
- Sychronisation logs are readily discoverable.

Taxonomic Metatada
The New Zealand Organisms Register (NZOR) is a project working to create an accurate, authoritative, comprehensive and continuously updated catalogue of taxonomic names of all New Zealand biota and other taxa of importance to New Zealand.

ANZLIC
